Dental crowns are grouped into the three classifications of restorative, cosmetic and protective. They are restorative, because they can recover a tooth even if only the root can be used. They are cosmetic, because a lot of people pick them in order to have a golden smile. And, they are protective, because a crown that covers a dental implant will defend neighboring teeth. There are three styles of Fairfax City dental crowns: metal, porcelain, and hybrid. Metal crowns are usually a fusion of titanium, gold, chromium, palladium or nickel. Alloys give metals traits that they wouldn't otherwise have.

Alloys are made by blending at least two different metals together. I blend their characteristics with the aim of creating a hybrid that is more multi-purpose than if any one trait was used alone. I most prefer gold crowns.

Gold crowns are able to endure a great deal of pressure. Porcelain dental crowns are translucent, so they copy the original color of teeth and can be placed in the front of the mouth.

When I utilize hybrids, the metal is placed at the contact point where your natural tooth meets the crown. The porcelain comprises the outer surface. Thus, you get the powerful metal crown and the beauty of the porcelain crown in a single item.

The fee for a Fairfax City dental crown created from one of these materials will vary. For example, porcelain will cost you about 20 percent more than gold. Hybrid dental crowns, being the most versatile, are the ones that go up to the high mark. The gold on gold crowns, though a highly-prized metal, can be applied very thinly but still retain their properties. As a result, gold crowns are very reasonably priced.
