Fairfax City dental crown - the perfect fit
When making a dental crown, it must be the exact size so it can fit between your teeth. Color and texture-wise, it should be the same as the other teeth. Remember that a dental crown is a permanent fixture in your mouth. Therefore, there cannot be any weakness in the crown. It has to be very strong.
The crown that we prepare for you at our office will serve you well. We make sure it is of the highest standards before giving to the customer. It may take days for our lab team to complete the crown. That is how long we require to build something that we hope will be there for a long time.
When preparing you for the crown, I need to even up some of the jagged edges of the tooth being treated. This includes removing stains and chips. As a result, I can't help but take away some of the enamel, or hard outer layer of the tooth. And since removing the enamel will leave your tooth exposed to plaque-creating germs, we need to have a contingency plan.
I'm referring, of course, to a temporary dental crown. Over here at my Fairfax City dental clinic, we have some good quality temporary dental crowns that we recommend. These are prepared by myself or one of my competent assistants.
To make the temporary crown, we need to build a mold of the tooth and the tooth opposite it. We want to create a situation where both crowns are the right length so you can bite without a problem. We would never want to prevent you from chomping on your favorite meals. The temporary crowns will be built to the exact proportions of your teeth, so you can chew all you want.
I would then pour the material into the mold, providing for a perfect fit. We then have to find something to fix the crown with. I use a dental cement that has a strong adhesive. It can also be removed without a problem, making it ideal to glue to temporary crown to the tooth.
Now, I did tell you that you can eat what you like. But, to be safe, you should keep away from hard and crunchy fruits and vegetables. Carrots are definitely to be avoided. You should also stay away from ribs, steaks and other thick meats during the period you have the temporary crown on. If the crown gets loose, you would make it worse. And it won't be as protective as the permanent one.
