Temporary Dental Crowns in Fairfax City Prevent Tooth Sensitivity
Many people have had the annoying buzz in their teeth whenever they react to hot or cold food and drink. It is pretty infuriating, I can say with some certainty. This is why I first need to put in a temporary crown as the opening phase of your dental crown treatment. By doing this, you don't have to suffer tingling in your tooth while the temporary crown is on.
There are several different reasons why people need a crown. Some people want to protect a weak tooth from further destruction. A crown would also be necessary for a cracked tooth that needs to be held together. Damaged teeth can also benefit from crowns. Even teeth that are broken or nearly disintegrated. Some need to support a tooth that has a large filling if the tooth has mostly crumbled away. Still others want to keep a dental bridge secure, cover chipped or very stained teeth, or blanket a dental implant.
When you come to my Fairfax City dental office, I would first prepare your tooth for the crown. I will level off your tooth to remove the uneveness. While I'm performing my task, a bit of your enamel will have to be removed. Enamel is the natural substance that covers your teeth and that protects them from germs. The importance of the enamel goes further in that it also protects the very sensitive nerves you have on the roots of your teeth.
Hence, with some of the enamel gone, you will experience added sensitivity in your tooth. Toothpaste, alone, won't solve this problem. After the filing, I will give you the temporary crown.
I would need to replicate your tooth by making a mold out of it. I would do the same for the tooth on the other side. This is important for your bite, so that is will not be uneven. Next, I need to put the temporary crown material into the cast. It is similar to playing with plaster of Paris. Afterwards, I use cement to attach the dental crown.
And there you have it. Comfortable crown, comfortable tooth.
